- Reservations and deposits are required for all
vehicles and trailers. See RATES.
- To make reservations we MUST know the
height & length of each vehicle. Incorrect dimensions may
prohibit loading of your vehicle and/or result in forfeiture.
- Passenger fares
are not included in vehicle rates.
- Deposits
are forfeited if you cancel or reschedule less than 72 hours before
departure.
- There is a $10 processing charge for all
cancelled reservations.
- Vehicles must be checked in 1½ hours
before departure time, under penalty of forfeiture.
- Being overloaded,
leaking
or having low exhaust may prohibit loading of vehicles.
- Vehicles are not
accessible while on the ferry.
- For safety, we
reserve the right to inspect the contents of all vehicles and trailers.
- Trailers
must be unlocked or a key must be left with Boat Company personnel.
- You will be charged
accordingly if any item on the outside of your vehicle necessarily
exceeds your allotted/reserved space. Items may need to be removed.
- NO portable
containers containing gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, etc. in any
quantity, can be brought aboard our ferry vessels. If you arrive with
fuel in a non-approved container you may be charged a disposal fee and
or storage a fee. Propane tanks must be checked in at our dock.
- Any damage to
automobiles due to transport, loading or unloading shall be reported to
the captain prior to leaving the dock at destination in order for
claims to be heard.
- There is a
surcharge for all trailers requiring electrical power while waiting on
the dock overnight.

- Passenger
reservations are not accepted. Please check in at least 1 hour prior to
departure time to purchase tickets, transfer luggage and park your
vehicle (all parking is offsite). See LOCATION & PARKING
- There is a shuttle
for drivers only to and from the middle school, apartment and airport
parking
facilities prior to boat departures. Please leave all pets, passengers
and luggage at the ferry dock to park vehicle.
- Passengers
should be on board 10 minutes before departure.
- Tickets are
non-refundable. No replacement for lost, stolen, or misused/damaged
tickets.
- You may want a
jacket or sweater; it's usually cooler on the lake than on land.
- A light
food/beverage vending concession is available on board for your
convenience.
- Ask about our
group rates, tours and island guide books.
- NEW: Passenger tickets
are valid for one year from date of purchase. Expired passenger tickets can be updated
for an additional year at a cost of $2.00 per ticket. Eligible
tickets must have been purchased on or after January 1, 2004.

- Anyone with large
amounts of baggage should arrive 1½
hours before departure - we can handle whatever you have, if given
ample time.
- Each passenger
is allowed 50 pounds of luggage/freight to be included with their
ticket price. Such freight
must be acceptable for placement on luggage racks. Excess will be $0.07
per pound, $1.50 minimum charge. Any item acceptable for placement on
the luggage rack may be included in this 50 pound allowance.
- Please declare all
luggage at luggage check-in, outside.
- All luggage must
be tagged with proper identification.
- Beaver Island Boat
Company is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged luggage or
personal items that are improperly packaged.

- Pets are not
permitted in our shuttle bus, in our indoor waiting area or in the
vessels' passenger cabins.
- Pets may stay in
your vehicle in a portable kennel away from the driver at no charge.
- Pets may stay in a
portable kennel on the car deck for $10 each way.
- Pets may stay on a
leash, away from other passengers and off the seats for $10 one way.
- Beaver Island Boat
Company assumes no responsibility for the actions of pets.

- For safety and
security, vehicles, luggage and freight may be inspected or searched.
- Please wait for
boarding announcement in one of our passenger boarding areas after
purchasing tickets. Passengers are not permitted in the
freight/operations area until "all aboard" is given.
- Note safety
information posted on the ferry, including location of life jackets and
life rings.
- Use caution when
moving on the boat. Always use handrails and watch your step at
doorways and stairs. During rough weather you may be asked to stay in
your seat.
- Please supervise
children closely. No running or climbing is permitted.
- If you require
special assistance, please notify ferry personnel before boarding. The
M/V EMERALD ISLE is equipped with facilities for the handicapped.
- Our ferry vessels
are built to safely handle all kinds of weather, however, if motion
sickness affects you, various prescription and non-prescription
medications are available on the market which can sometimes be very
helpful. We will not refund tickets due to illness.

Safety is our
number one priority. Trained crew members, state-of-the-art navigation
and lifesaving equipment ensure a safe voyage. Please respect your crew
and your captain, for safety and security reasons some changes in
policies and procedures may be necessary. Our staff and crew are
dedicated to making your trip as safe and comfortable as possible.

Weapons policy
|
The
following policy applies
to all weapons and ammunitions, brought onto Beaver Island Boat Company
(B.I.B.Co.) property.
Definitions:
Weapons:
Weapons
shall be defined as any rifle, shotgun, handgun, bow, crossbow, knife (greater than 3”
blade), or any item
used for the purpose of striking or hitting.
B.I.B.Co. reserves the right to deem any item a weapon.
Ammunitions: Ammunitions
shall be defined as bullets, shells, gun powder,
arrows (with or without tips attached), or
magazines. B.I.B.Co.
reserves the right to
deem any item as ammunition.

All weapons/ammunitions
must be declared to office employees immediately.
¨
Weapons/ammunitions
may be left in a vehicle if in a locked case or compartment.
¨
No weapons/ammunitions
may be placed in/on luggage areas for transport.
¨
No passengers
may carry weapons/ammunitions onto the boat.
¨
All weapons/ammunitions
must have appropriate identification.
¨
All weapons must
be unloaded prior to their declaration.
